Tamarindo Poker Tour 2008

Tournament Rules



1. No-Limit Texas Hold’em w/rebuys. After one hour of play optional add-on. All rebuys/add-ons release $100 in tournament chips. Unlimited re-buys (one at a time) allowed when busted. If busted on the last hand of the hour, both 1 re-buy and 1add-on is allowed.

2. Standard registration fee is 3,000 colones, divided as follows: 2,500 colones go to the TPT budget, which covers Final Table prize pool minus all costs for cards, equipment, trophies etc. 500 colones go to the host of the tournament, in case it is a public restaurant/bar the money goes to tip the personnel. 3,000 colones from every tournament (out of the TPT budget) go to the GPOY contest.

3. First 3 rebuys and 1 add-on cost 5,000 colones each, 4th (and 5th, and 6th etc.) re-buy costs 10,000 colones. 100% goes to the current event prize pool.

4. Prize pool is divided as follows:
6-9 players:     70/30
10-15:             50/30/20
16-20:             45/30/15/10
21-25:             43/25/15/10/7
26-?:               40/23/13/10/8/6

5. Rules: Standard poker tournament rules apply. Moving players: When tables need to be balanced, the Button player on the high table will be moved to the seat to the right of the button on the low table. When breaking up a table, reseated players will get seats to the right of the button on the new table.
When seating players for the final table, seats will be redrawn randomly.

6. The tournament committee consists of present TPT board members. Their ruling is final and can not be appealed. At each table a “Table Captain” is appointed to keep track and take care of re-buys and add-ons.

7. The TPT consists of regular bi-weekly events in Texas NL Hold’em, including a heads-up event with a knock-out format. Every 3 months there will be a “Quarterly Special Event” with other classic poker games added to the regular schedule.

8. During the course of the calendar year players accumulate points equal to the money they win at the events. At the conclusion of the last event of the year, the top 10 money winners play a Final Table tournament for the title of TPT Champion.

The total prize pool is divided among them as follows:
1st place 30%
2nd place 20%
3rd place 15%
4th place 8%
5th place 7%
6th place 6%
7th place 5%
8th place 4%
9th place 3%
10th place 2%

9. Blinds and levels for regular events: All levels are 20 minutes each.
Level 1    $1-$2
Level 2    $2-$4
Level 3    $3-$6
Break, chip-up $1. All players decide on add-ons and pay their balance
Level 4    $5-$10
Level 5    $10-$20
Level 6    $15-$30
Short break, chip up $5
Level 7    $25-50
Level 8    $50-$100
Level 9    $100-$200
Short break, chip up $25
Level 10  $200-$400
Level 11  $400-$800
Level 12  $800-$1,600

Heads-up event

This classic event will be taking off earlier this year to make sure everybody has plenty of time to schedule their matches.
The registration starts in January and ends February 28th.

Entry fee is 10,000 colones, 10% goes to the TPT budget
Prize pool is divided: Winner 60% - Runner-up 20%, Semi Finalists 10% each.

The format is best of 3 matches. Each match gives $100 in chips to each player, levels of 20 minutes each.
Blinds structure: 1/2 - 2/4 - 3/6 - 5/10 - 10/20 - 15/30

The draw will be made at the regular TPT event February 28th.
Players are obliged to arrange their matches at the earliest convenience.
If no other arrangement is made, the players will play on the scheduled date.
If there is a no-show by either player, the match will be forfeited, no appeal.

The default dates are:
March 31st - Round of 32
May 19th - Round of 16
July 21st - Round of 8
September 22nd - Semi Finals
November 17th - Final Match.
